GRETSCH MODEL 100F Description
- arched spruce top, arched maple back, maple sides, two f-holes, two-stripe bound body, three-piece maple/rosewood neck, 14/20-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with small diamond inlays, rosewood veneer headstock with fern inlay and pearl scroll logo, three-per-side gold tuners, adj. ebony bridge, trapeze tailpiece, raised single-bound tortoiseshell pickguard, available in dark red/golden amber Sunburst finish, 16 in. body width, 24.5 in. scale, mfg. 1933-39.
This model was also produced with a round soundhole (Model 100R) between 1933 and 1938. In 1936, a tortoiseshell pickguard replaced the black and the headstock was changed from a rosewood veneer to a black plastic veneer with a center dip design. This model was renamed the Synchromatic 100 in 1939 (see listing).
