GRETSCH SYNCHROMATIC 300 (MODEL 6036/6037) Description
- carved spruce top, carved flame maple back, curly maple sides, two double-bound cat's-eye soundholes, wide multiple-binding on top and back, five-piece maple/rosewood neck, 14/20-fret five-ply bound rosewood fingerboard with gold sparkle hump block inlays, bound blackface headstock with indents above the E string tuners, pearl "Gretsch" logo on top and "Synchromatic" logo above the A and B-string tuners inlays, three-per-side chrome Grover tuners with engraved buttons, adj. stylized rosewood bridge, harp tailpiece, raised bound tortoiseshell pickguard, gold-plated hardware, available in Natural (6037) or Sunburst (6036) finish, 17 in. body width, 26 in. scale, mfg. 1939-1955.
In 1941, Natural finish was introduced. In 1948, the Synchromatic 300 was assigned Model 6036 for Sunburst finish and Model 6037 for Natural finish. In 1951, f-holes, a stairstep bridge, "G" tailpiece, triple bound top and back, single bound pickguard and fingerboard, slashed hump block fingerboard inlays, and a rounded top headstock were introduced.
