- double round cutaway hollow bound maple body, leatherette back pad, two f-holes, 21-fret bound ebony fingerboard with pearl thumbnail inlays and offset dot inlays above 12th fret, bound blackface peghead with pearl logo inlay, peghead mounted nameplate, three-per-side tuners, string mute, roller bridge, Bigsby vibrato tailpiece with telescoping arm, raised pickguard with Viking and Gretsch logo, two SuperTron pickups, control layout #3 (three knobs, three switches), gold hardware, available in Cadillac Green (Model 6189), Natural (Model 6188/7586), or Sunburst (Model 6187/7585) finish, 17 in. body width, 2 in. body depth, mfg. 1964-1975.
Early models had a Viking ship on the pickguard as well as the logos. In 1966, a tuning fork bridge was added. In 1968, a flat arm vibrato unit was introduced. In 1971, this model was renumbered 7585 for Sunburst and 7586 for Natural. In 1972, the string mute, tuning fork, and back pad were removed and Cadillac Green finish was disc.
