- single cutaway hollow bound body, arched laminated single-bound spruce top, single-bound back, two f-holes, maple neck, 21-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl block inlays, two-ply black and white headstock overlay with beveled edges to simulate binding, Grestsch logo etched into headstock "Electromatic" etched over a zig-zag patter, and three-per-side tuners with plastic buttons, Melita bridge, G logo trapeze tailpiece, plastic pickguard, one (Model 6190/6191) or two (Model 6189) DeArmond pickups, volume/tone controls, chrome hardware, available in Bamboo Yellow top with Copper Mist back and sides (Model 6189, 1955-59), Jaguar Tan (1955-59 Special Order only), Natural (Model 6190/6191), or Sunburst (Model 6190) finish, mfg. 1951-59.
In 1955, this model was rennamed the Streamliner with new specs: double-bound maple top, double-bound back, single-bound f-holes, a single-bound fingerboard, no zig-zag pattern on headstock, G tailpiece, only one pickup, and new finishes. In 1957, double-bound f-holes were introduced. In 1958 the transition to the Anniversary model started with the removal of Electromatic from a new unbound headstock, a FilterTron pickup, and new a control layout.
