The original New Yorker featured a round headstock with a stenciled logo of the T-roof Gretsch through circle and New Yorker vertically. In 1949, a lightning bolt was added to the logo. In 1955, a headstock with a rounded top and sharper corners was introduced. Some models produced in the late 1960s feature a rectangle-shaped headstock that is similar to flattop guitars with a Gretsch plaque.
