The original (1940) version of this model had a larger 17 in. body width. By 1949, the body width was narrowed to 16 in. and the specs followed everything in the model description. In 1951, Natural finish (Model 6185N) was introduced. In 1955, this model was renamed the Corvette Hollowbody with new features including a double-bound top and back, a rounded-peak headstock with no zig-zag pattern and a truss rod cover, and new finishes were introduced/renumbered: Jaguar Tan (Model 6184), Sunburst (Model 6182), and Natural (Model 6183). In 1957, an ivory top with gray mist back and sides finish became optional as the Model 6187. In late 1957, a single round cutaway body was introduced.
