GIBSON Model A-50 Description
- symmetrical body shape, maple back and sides, oval soundhole, ebony fingerboard with dot inlays, headstock with Gibson logo and four-per-side tuners, available in Dark Red Sunburst or Brown Sunburst finish, mfg. 1933-1971.
F-holes were introduced in 1934. In 1937, the body changed size to 11.25 in., and featured a bound pickguard,a flush fingerboard, fleur-de-lis peghead inlay, and Brown Sunburst finish. In 1942, the body size was changed to 10 in. and the clamshell tailpiece cover was introduced. In 1947, the peghead logo underwent two changes, and a beveled edge pickguard was introduced.
