GIBSON Model A-2 (A2-Z) Description
- symmetrical body shape, various wood types, oval soundhole with two wood ring inlays, pickguard, top and back body binding, ebony fingerboard with dot inlays and binding, paddle-shaped peghead with inlays, four-per-side tuners, available in Golden Orange finish, mfg. 1902-08, 1918-1928.
When this model was re-introduced in 1918, it featured an elevated pickguard and Brown finish. In 1922 when this model was renamed the Model A2-Z, it featured a double bound top, and soundhole, a black and white soundhole ring, and was available in Amber finish. In 1923, the snakehead peghead was introduced. In 1927, it was renamed back to the Model A2.
