- orchestra body style, solid spruce top, Brazilian rosewood (1930-32) or Indian rosewood (1977-1993) back and sides, round soundhole with abalone pearl rosette, ivoroid (1930-32) or white (1977-1993) top and back binding, abalone pearl top and side inlays, zipper pattern backstripe, mahogany neck, 14/20-fret ivoroid (1930-32) or white (1977-1993) bound ebony fingerboard with abalone snowflake (1930-32) or hexagonal (1977-1993) inlays, ivoroid (1930-32) or W/B/W (1977-1993) bound rosewood headstock overlay with abalone pearl torch (1930-32) or vertical block Martin logo (1977-1993) inlay, three-per-side gold banjo-style tuners with ivoroid buttons (1930-31) or regular tuners (1931-32, 1977-1993), ebony bridge, white bridge pins with abalone dots, small tortoise (1930-31) or large tortoise (1931-32, 1977-1994) pickguard, Natural finish, available as a Special Order, mfg. 1930-32 (total production of 40 instruments) and 1977-1993 (total production of 184 instruments).
The first OM-45 "reissue" models were stamped SOM-45 and there were 56 of these produced. The OM-45 is a very rare instrument, and original finish and parts make a huge difference in value. The Blue Book of Acoustic Guitars highly recommends obtaining several appraisals before buying, selling, or trading this model.
