- laminated spruce top with stylized "G" brand on the bass bout, maple arched back, maple sides, triangle soundhole with rosette, four-ply bound top, double bound back, maple neck, 14/21-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid block inlays engraved with cows and cactus, black face bound peghead with pearl steer head/logo inlay, three-per-side gold tuners, adj. rosewood bridge mounted on triangular rosewood base, tortoiseshell, gold, or tan pickguard with engraved longhorn steer head, available in Golden Red finish, 17 in. body width, 25.5 in. scale, mfg. 1954-1973.
By 1957, a gold pickguard replaced the tortoiseshell, and hump block fingerboard inlay with no engraving replaced the original design. In 1959, a tan pickguard replaced the gold pickguard and thumbnail fingerboard inlays replaced hump block inlays. In 1961, the G brand on the bass bout was removed, and a horseshoe peghead inlay was introduced. In 1969, a zero fret was introduced. In 1971, the Rancher's model number was changed to 7525.
