- single cutaway Les Paul-style composite body (Multi-Phonic construction with Resonwood surrounding a wood core), bolt-on maple neck, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, blackface peghead with decal logo, three-per-side tuners, tune-o-matic bridge, stop tailpiece, multi-ply black pickguard, two exposed Dirty Fingers zebra coil humbucker pickups, four black speed knobs (two v, two tone), three-way pickup switch, chrome hardware, available in Antique Fireburst (1982-84), Candy Apple Red (1982-84), Ebony, Silver (1982-84), or Silverburst (1982-84) finish, 17.25 in. body length, 13 in. body width, 1.75 in. body depth, 24.75 in. scale, mfg. 1980-84.
A left-handed variation was introduced during 1982. In June, 1982 a "Sonex by Gibson" logo decal was placed on the headstock and in July, 1982, "The Gibson Guitar Co." logo replaced the earlier version.
