- single cutaway mahogany body, set-in mahogany neck, bound carved maple or mahogany (2002-04) top, 22-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl trapezoid inlay, tune-o-matic bridge/stop tailpiece, blackface peghead with pearl logo inlay, "Standard" engraved on truss rod cover, three-per-side tuners, cream pickguard, two or three (2002-04, HC finish and mahogany top only) covered humbucker (490R/498T) pickups, four knobs (two v, two tone), three-way toggle switch, chrome hardware, available in Bullion Gold (BG, 2001), Cayenne (CA, 2004 only), Darkburst (2002-04), Light Burst (2002-04), Trans Amber (2002-04), Gecko (GE, 2004 only), Heritage Cherry Sunburst (HS), Honey Burst (HB), Wine Red (WR) Vintage Sunburst (1999-2004), Frost and Crimson Sparkle (disc. 2000), Ice Tea (IT, 2004 only), Latte Creme (LC, 2004 only), Root Beer (RO, 2004 only), Green, Blue, or Diamond Sparkle (disc. 2001) finish, 24.75 in. scale, mfg. 1998-2004.
In 1998, the Les Paul Standard was redesignated LPS-8, and was introduced in three finishes, and a choice of chrome or gold (disc. 1999) hardware. This was discontinued during 2003, and the prefix was changed to LPS. Base price was for Faded 50s/60s
