GIBSON FLYING V – NO PICKGUARD MODEL (1981-1989 MFG.) Description

- V-shaped mahogany body, large control cover plate on back, mahogany neck, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlay, pointed headstock with logo decal, three-per-side tuners, bell-shaped truss rod cover, tune-o-matic bridge, stop tailpiece or optional Kahler vibrato, no pickguard, two exposed coil humbucker pickups with black mounting rings, three knobs mounted in a wide triangular pattern (two v, tone), three-way pickup switch, chrome hardware, available in Alpine White, Candy Apple Red, Ebony, Ebony Sparkle, Electric Blue, Ferrari Red, Greenburst, Ivory, Night Violet, Panther Pink, Pewter, Plum Wineburst, Red, or Silver Sky finish, mfg. 1981-89.

In 1984 Ivory finish was disc. and Alpine White and Red finishes were introduced.
