- similar to the ASAT Bass, except has an ash body, bolt on maple neck, 21-fret maple or ebony fingerboard with pearl dot inlay, four-on-one-side-tuners, gold hardware, two dual coil pickups, three knobs (v, two tone), three mini switches (pickup, series-parallel, preamp), active electronics, available in Cherryburst finish only, 150 made, mfg. 1992-93.
The Leo Fender ASAT Commemorative Bass was designed to pay tribute to Leo Fender for his life time of achievement and influence on the music industry. The Commemorative Bass is basically a deluxe version of the ASAT Bass with more binding, gold hardware, Leo Fender's signature with his birth/death dates and a black stemmed white rose on the upper bout. Shipped with gold Maxima strings. Leo Fender, who in his lifetime has had as much if not more influence on the American music scene than any other individual. Clarence Leonidas Fender passed away on March 21st, 1991.
