- cresting wave style maple body, white pickguard, through-body maple neck, 21-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlay, fixed bridge, chrome hardware, two chrome bar pickups, four knobs (two v, two tone), three-position switch, available in Black, Fireglo, Natural, or Sunburst finish, mfg. 1957-1984.
This model was introduced with a tulip style body, metal pickguard, 2 controls and a rotary switch located on the upper treble bout. It was manufactured this way for one year. In 1958, the cresting wave body style was introduced. In 1961, a thinner body was introduced. In 1962, a white plastic pickguard was introduced. In 1966, the 4 controls were introduced. From 1962 to 1977, 3 pickups were optional. In 1970, Hi-Gain pickups were introduced.
