- offset double cutaway semi-hollow maple body, wedge-shaped soundhole, bi-level pickguard, through-body maple neck, 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlay, tune-o-matic bridge/R-style trapeze tailpiece, three-per-side tuners, two single coil pickups, five knobs (two v, two tone, small mix), three-position switch, available in Fireglo, Jetglo, Mapleglo, Midnight Blue, Red, or White finish, mfg. 1958-present.
The earliest models in 1958 may only have two knobs and a single piece pickguard. In 1961, a thinner, 1.5 in. body replaced the 2 in. body. In 1963, a fifth knob (mixer control) was added and an R tailpiece was introduced. In 1969, a 24-fret fingerboard was extended over they body and some models may have slanted frets.
