MARTIN Style 1 Description
- rosewood back, bent spruce top, bound body, mahogany neck, 18 ribs, tortoise shell pickguard with pearl inlays, sound hole purfling, ebony fingerboard, ebony bridge, engraved tailpiece, fancy headstock with four-per-side tuners, available in Natural finish, mfg. 1898-1924
In 1904, two ribs were added for a total of 20, position dot markers were added to the fingerboard, the tuners were installed from the back, and the inlays in the pickguard were discontinued. In 1909, another two ribs were added for a total of 22. In 1917, a side guard was added.
