MARTIN Style 3 Description
- rosewood bowl, bent spruce top, ivory bound body with purfling, mahogany neck, 26 ribs, inlaid tortoise shell pickguard with pearl inlays, sound hole purfling, ebony fingerboard, ebony bridge, engraved tailpiece, fancy cutout headstock with four-per-side tuners, available in Natural finish, mfg. 1898-1922.
In 1901, the inlay on the pickguard was changed and the tuning knobs became ivory. In 1904, the purfling was colored around the soundhole, the border was black and white, and the fingerboard inlays resembled that of a Style 42 guitar.
