MARTIN HD-28V(R) Description
- dreadnought body style, solid Sitka spruce top, solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, standard "X" scalloped forward shifted bracing, round soundhole with Style 28 three-stripe rosette (5/9/5 grouping), grained ivoroid binding, bold herringbone top inlay, B/W boltaron back inlay, zigzag pattern back purfling, select hardwood neck, 14/20-fret ebony fingerboard with pearl diamond and square inlays, rosewood headstock overlay with raised gold foil logo, three-per-side Gotoh nickel open-geared tuners with butterbean knobs, vintage ebony belly bridge with drop-in long saddle, white bridge pins with tortoise dots, beveled tortoise pickguard, Natural polished gloss finish with Aging Toner top, 25.4 in. scale, mfg. 1996-present.
Before 1996 and before the Vintage Series was created, this model existed as the Custom HD-28 (See Standard Dreadnought Series). The R was dropped from the HD-28VR designation after 1998 and called the HD-28V from 1999 to the present.
