- single cutaway routed mahogany body, bound knotty pine, mahogany, or maple top with G brand on lower bout, tooled leather side trim, maple neck, 22-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl block inlay with engraved western motif, bound peghead with pine veneer and pearl steer's head/logo inlay, three-per-side tuners, adj. bridge, "G" logo trapeze tailpiece with western motif belt buckle, raised tortoise pickguard with engraved steer's head, two exposed DeArmond pickups, control layout #1, gold hardware, available in Orange Stain finish, mfg. 1954-1960.
Knotty Pine is more desirable, especially the knottier it is. The earliest models have no inlay at the first fret. In 1955, the first fret inlay became engraved. In 1956, the top became triple-bound. This model was originally issued with a jeweled Western styled strap.
