- single cutaway Les Paul-style chambered mahogany body, maple top, set mahogany neck, 22-fret bound ebony fingerboard with pearl trapezoidal inlays, bound headstock with pearl Gibson logo and flowerpot inlay, chrome truss rod cover with "Robot Guitar" engraved, three-per-side robotic Powerhead Locking tuners, tune-o-matic Tune Control bridge, data-transmitting stop tailpiece, two chrome covered humbucker pickups (490R, 498T), four knobs (three normal, and one Master Control Knob that controls the robotic actions of the guitar), three-way pickup switch, chrome hardware, available in Blue Silverburst finish, mfg. late 2007 only.
The Gibson Robot Les Paul features a self-tuning feature as well as an onboard computer that transmits sound from the guitar. An onboard rechargeable battery system keeps the guitar tuned for about 200 tunings on one charge. The MCK (Master Control Knob) acts as a regular volume or pot knob when it is in the down position and activiates all the tunings when it is in the up position. This guitar went on sale December 7, 2007 and a total of 4,000 guitars were produced in this limited edition run. A total of 400 stores received 10 guitars each, and Gibson does not plan on building any more of these guitars. The serial number reads "RG" followed by a four-digit number indicating the production number of 1-4000.
