GIBSON GA-8 GIBSONETTE Description
- 8W, 1-10 in. speaker, guitar combo, four-tube chassis, preamp: 1 X 12AX7, power: 2 X 6V6, rectifier: 5Y3, single channel, top control panel, two inst. inputs, single volume knob, available in brown covering with a round metal speaker grille (1952-53), light brown grained fabric with a square dark brown grille cloth (1954-57), or light tan covering with narrow sides, large speaker opening, and a metal handle, Gibsonette logo above grille, 17.5 in. wide, 13 in. tall, 7,365 shipped, mfg. 1952-59.
In 1958, the output was raised to 9W, the Gibson logo was moved above the grille, the handle was metal with a plastic middle, the covering was changed to a gold fabric, the grille was a dark brown, and the cabinet size was increased to 20 in. wide, 16 in. tall, 9 in. deep, and 20 lbs. Most of these amps don't actually have GA-8 stamped on them.
