GIBSON GA-6 Description
- 12W, 1-12 in. Jensen speaker, guitar/microphone combo, five-tube chassis: preamp: 1 X 12AX7, 1 X 6SL7, power: 2 X 6V6, rectifier: 5Y3, two channels, top control panel, four inputs (three instrument, one mic), three black chicken head knobs (tone, inst v, mic v), available in two-tone "oatmeal" buffalo grain fabric covering with a woven Saran grille (1956-57) or dark brown buffalo covering with a light brown woven Saran grille (1958-59), 5,845 shipped, mfg. 1956-59.
This amp was originally the BR-6 and in 1956 was renamed the GA-6. The original cabinet featured a mottled gray/brown covering and dimensions were 20 in. wide, and 11.25 in. tall. In 1958, the covering was changed to a dark brown, and the dimensions changed to 20 in. wide, 16 in. tall, 9 in. deep, and 24 lbs. In 1960, this model was renamed the GA-6 Lancer, the covering changed to a tweed with a Gibson logo in the upper right corner of the grille, and the power increased to 14W.
