GIBSON GA-77RET/GA-77RETL VANGUARD Description

- 50W, 2-10 in. standard speakers (GA-77RET) or 1-15 in. JBL optional speaker (GA-77RETL), guitar combo, nine-tube chassis, preamp: 3 X 6EU7, 2 X 12AU7, 1 X 6CG7, power: 2 X 6L6, rectifier: 0A2, two channels, tremolo, echo, front white control panel, four inputs (two per channel), 13 black and silver knobs (Ch. 1: v, t, m, b, Ch. 2: v, t, m, b, echo switch, echo level, depth, freq, power switch), black alligator covering, silver/gray sparkle grille cloth, 28 in. wide, 20.5 in. tall, 10.75 in. deep, 640 shipped (180 shipped with JBL speakers), mfg. 1964-67.

The GA-77RET differed from the GA-77RVT in that it did not have reverb, but an oil can type echo that was manufactured by Tel-Ray. There was no reverb control but it had a three-position echo switch used in conjunction with a level knob instead.
