- 25W, 1-15 in. Jensen speaker, six-tube chassis, preamp: 1 X 12AX7, 1 X 12AY7, 1 X 12AU7, power: 2 X 6L6, rectifier: 5V4, two channels, top control panel, four inputs (two per channel), six black chicken head knobs (1954-57: v1, v2, b, t, tone, power), or six black chickenhead knobs (1958-1961: v1, v2, b, t, tone, fidelity, power), available in two-tone Buffalo grain covering with a woven Saran grille and "Gibson 77" logo centered above the grille (1954-56), two-tone Buffalo grain covering with a woven Saran grille and "Gibson" logo centered above the grille (1957-59), or tweed covering with a dark brown grille cloth (1960-61), 1,220 shipped, mfg. 1954-1961.
Originally, the covering on this amp was a two-tone mottled gray/brown leatherette covering with a rectangle brown speaker grille, the logo "Gibson 77" was above the grille, and dimensions were 24 in. wide, 20 in. tall, 10.175 in. deep, and 40 lbs. In 1958, the cabinet was changed slightly to a different two-tone brown covering, only the "Gibson" logo appeared on the front, and a metal handle with plastic middle replaced the leather one. In 1960, the name Vanguard was added to GA-77, the cabinet changed again to a tweed covering with a brown grille and the "Gibson" logo was moved in the upper right corner.
