GIBSON GA-70 COUNTRY WESTERN FIRST VERSION Description
- 25W, 1-15 in. Jensen speaker, guitar combo, six tube chassis, preamp: 1 X 7025, 1 X 12AY7, 1 X 12AU7, power: 2 X 6L6, rectifier: 5V4, two channels, top control panel, four inputs (two per channel), four black chicken head knobs (Ch. 1 v, Ch. 2 v, tone, power), two-tone brown buffalo-grain covering, narrow rectangular woven Saran brown grille with "Gibson" logo and Texas longhorn logo on front, 20 in. wide, 22 in. tall, 10.125 in. deep, 40 lbs, 160 shipped, mfg. 1955-56.
A fidelity knob and "bell-like" treble are what set this country western amp aside from standard models. Unlike most Gibson models from this era, this model had a rectangle speaker opening that ran vertical leaving large strips of covering on either sides of the speaker.
