- 30W mono (2 X 15 Stereo), 2-10 in. Jensen speakers, stereo guitar combo, eight-tube chassis, preamp: 4 X 6EU7 power: 4 X 6BQ5, solid-state rectifier, two channels, tremolo, top silver control panel, five inputs (four mono, one stereo), six knobs (Ch. 1: v, tone, depth, freq, Ch. 2: v, tone), mono-stereo switch, footswitch for tremolo, six sided trapezoid-shaped cabinet with tweed covering, woven brown Saran grille cloth, two oblong holes in the front, 25.75 in. wide in back, 11 in. wide in front, 18.75 in. tall, 10.5 in. deep, 210 shipped, mfg. 1960-61.
The original GA-79 model was advertised as having reverb, but the control panel in the catalog clearly shows knobs for tremolo (depth, freq.), and none for reverb. All Gibson amps during this era only used one knob for reverb. The GA-79 was replaced by the GA-79RV with reverb in 1961.
