FENDER SUPER (NARROW PANEL) Description
- 20W, 2-10 in. Jensen speakers, tube chassis, preamp: 2 X 12AY7, 12AX7, power: 2 X 6L6G, 5U4G rectifier, top numbered control panel, four input jacks, four pointer knobs (mic v, inst. v, t, b), ground switch, diagonal tweed covering, brown tweed-era grille, mfg. 1954-1960.
This model has a self-balancing paraphrase inverter circuit (Model 5D4). In 1955, 6V6 tubes were introduced (Model 5E4), and the nameplate changed to script type. In 1956, the tubes were changed back to 6L6 (Model 5F4), and the namplate is changed to Super Amp script. In 1958, a presence control was added.
