In 1965, a bound fingerboard was introduced. In 1966, block fingerboard inlays replaced dot inlays. In 1969, a black-bound maple fingerboard with black block inlays became optional. By the mid-1970s, pearloid block fingerboard inlays and white binding became optional on maple fingerboards. In 1975, a three-bolt neck and neckplate design were introduced.
