- single cutaway basswood body, bound figured maple top, bolt-on maple neck, 22-fret maple fingerboard with black dot inlay, strings through bridge, 4/2-per-side Schaller tuners with pearl buttons, chrome hardware, two humbucker DiMarzio pickups, volume control (with tone knob!), three-position switch, available in Trans. Gold, Trans. Purple, or Trans. Red finish, mfg. 1991-95.

The Edward Van Halen model was co-designed with Edward Van Halen, and introduced in 1991. Upon dissolution of the endorsement deal, this model was renamed the Axis.
