EPIPHONE Strand Description
- symmetrical two-point body, carved top/back, walnut back/sides, f-holes, triple-ply binding on top/back/f-holes, mahogany neck, bound rounded end rosewood fingerboard with slotted diamond inlays, engraved tailpiece cover, rounded peghead, four-per-side tuners, name of model between Epiphone and Masterbilt logos on headstock, raised pickguard, nickel-plated hardware, available in Sunburst finish, mfg. 1932-1958.
In 1935, the binding was changed to single-ply on back only and the headstock was changed to a rounded design. In 1939, the f-holes featured a squared edge at every corner, the pickguard went around the bridge, the tailpiece became plain, the fingerboard became square and had parallelogram inlays, and the peghead featured a script logo and dipped in the center. In 1950, the soundhole was changed to an oval, an oval peghead inlay was introduced, the Epiphone E (C with a slash) was put on the pickguard, and the pickguard did not go below the bridge anymore.
