- The G Mandolins include the models G-1, G-2, G-3, and G-5. These were the first mandolins built by Martin and based the design for further models. These models only appeared in the 1896 catalog. It is unknown if serialization was used on these since this is the same time when serial numbers were first used. No sales records exist either. Since there is so little information known about these models a realistic price has not been established on them.

In 1904, two ribs were added for a total of 20, position dot markers were added to the fingerboard, the tuners were installed from the back, and the inlays in the pickguard were discontinued. In 1909, another two ribs were added for a total of 22. In 1917, a side guard was added.

In 1901, the headstock inlay was added and the fingerboard inlays at the end were discontinued. In 1904, the headstock, fingerboard, and guard inlays were changed to ivory. In 1914, the snowflake inlay was introduced, which is similar to the Style 45 Martin guitar. There was also a Style 6A Mandolin made, but apparently was never put in the catalog. These were supposedly built for Joseph A. Handley in Lowell, MA. The only difference between this and the Style 6 is that the pickguard was moved to the side. Some models have been seen with no headstock inlay and top binding of black and white stripes.

In 1914, the top border became a standard width. This mandolin is basically the same as the Style 6, except featured a lot more elaborate inlays on the top, soundhole, and pickguard.
