In 2002, this model was revised by replacing the Lace Sensor pickups with new Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups, a "V" neck, and new active mid-boost and TBX circuits. The Eric Clapton Stratocaster was the first signature model by Fender. It was loosely based on Blackie - Clapton's main guitar during much of the 1970s and 1980s.

It is estimated that only 25 instruments were produced. The Hendrix model featured construction similar to the 25th Anniversary model, except had a reverse headstock and an additional body contour on the front.
