Stratocaster: Custom Shop Limited Edition

The Limited Edition Stratocasters are produced in very limited production runs by Fender's Custom Shop. These models are generally labeled # instrument/total amount and are offered to Fender Diamond level dealers to broker to the public. As such, there is no announced retail price per model - only availability. The following models have a Stratocaster offset double cutaway body, three single coil pickups, bolt-on neck, and 6-on-a-side headstock (unless otherwise specified).
2006 Limited Edition Models: The LTD Master Design 60s Stratocaster in Gold Sparkle finish is built by the custom shop team (100 guitars, $5,000). The LTD Master Design 60s Stratocaster in Gold Sparkle finish is built by Greg Fessler (100 guitars, $8,000). The LTD Builder Select 1962 Stratocaster in Relic Sonic Blue finish is built by John Cruz (100 guitars, $7,000). The LTD 1956 Stratocaster in Taous Turquoise is built by the custom shop team (100 guitars, $5,000). The LTD 50s Stratocaster in Sonic Blue over 2-Color Sunburst is built by the custom shop team (100 guitars, $5,000). The LTD 60s Stratocaster Relic in Black over 3-Color Sunburst is built by the custom shop team (100 guitars, $5,000). The LTD 1966 Stratocaster Closet Classic in Firemist Silver Metallic is built by the custom shop team (200 guitars, $5,000). The LTD 1955 Masterbuilt Stratocaster Relic in 2-Color Sunburst is built by the custom shop team (100 guitars, $8,000). The Masterbuilt 1960 Strat Relic with Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard is available in 3-Color Sunburst, Lake Placid Blue, Olympic White, or Sherwood Green (Qty. unknown, $9,000). The Master Salute Stratocaster in White Gold Leaf is built by the custom shop team (250 guitars, $8,226). The Reverse Proto Stratocaster Closet Classic in Vintage White is built by the custom shop team (100 guitars, $8,000). The LTD Select 1964 Strat Relic in Olympic White is built by Yuriy Shishkov (100 guitars, $7,500). The LTD Select Strat/Tele Hybrid in Candy Apple Red is built by Chris Fleming (100 guitars, $8,000). The LTD Select 1959 Relic Stratocaster Relic in Desert Sand is built by the custom shop team (100 guitars, $7,750).
2007 Limited Edition Models: The LTD 1966 Stratocaster Closet Classic in Firemist Silver Metallic is built by the custom shop team (200 guitars, $5,000, carryover from 2006). Fender also collaborated with Ford to produce the Ford Shelby GT Stratocaster (MSR $5,600). This guitar featured the Colby logo, Shelby hood stripes, a handpainted body graphic, "Shelby" and "GT500KR" inlaid in MOP on the 7th and 12th frets of the fingerboard, and a hardshell case with hand-embroidered Ford and Shelby graphics. Only 100 of these guitars were made and they were individually numbered and auctioned off with proceeds going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Note: Fender also produced a similar guitar in Mexico - please refer to the Stratocaster - Misc. Models section for information.
2009 Limited Edition Models: The LTD 1956 Stratocaster Relic available in Two-Tone Sunburst or Desert Sand finish (total production of 100 guitars in 2009 - 50 of each color, MSR $4,200), the LTD 1960 Stratocaster Relic available in Three-Tone Sunburst or Dakota Red finish (total production of 200 guitars in 2009 - 100 of each color, MSR $4,200), and the LTD 1964 Stratocaster Relic available in Aged Vintage White, Black, or Chocolate Three-Tone Sunburst (total production of 150 guitars in 2009 - 50 of each color, MSR $4,400).
2011 Limited Edition Models: The Limited 1967 Relic Stratocaster available in Aged Olympic White finish (MSR $4,920, 100%/New Price: $4,100) and the Limited 1956 Relic Stratocaster available in White Blonde finish (MSR $6,120, 100%/New Price: $5,100).
2012 Limited Edition Models: The Limited 1965 Closet Classic Stratocaster available in Lake Placid Blue finish (MSR $5,600, 100%/New Price: $4,480).

BILL CARSON STRATOCASTER (U.S. MFG.)

- similar to the 1957 Reissue, except has a bird's-eye maple neck shaped to Bill Carson's specifications, available in Cimarron Red, mfg. 1992 only.
Only 101 instruments were built (one left-handed guitar). The first 41 were built for Music Trader and have documentation (non-Music Trader models do not have this paperwork). Package includes tweed hardshell case. Serial numbers range between MT000 and MT100. Guitarist Bill Carson gave advice on the design of the original Stratocaster.

ERIC CLAPTON BLACKIE LIMITED EDITION

- a limited edition production of Eric Clapton's Stratocaster "Blackie," built to every last aspect of Eric's guitar, mfg. late 2006 only.
Only 275 instruments were built (185 in the U.S. and 90 exported to other countries). This guitar was sold exclusively through Guitar Center the day after Thanksgiving, November 24, 2006. Most guitars sold new for between $19,500 and $22,000. The guitar includes a Duck Bros. case, signed certificate of authenticity, an Eric Clapton Crossroads box set, Thank You letter and brochure from the Crossroads Centre, and a Christie's auction catalog. Guitar Center bought "Blackie" for $959,500 on June 24, 2004 from Christie's Auction. A portion of the sales from the reproduction at GC will go to Clapton's Crossroad Centre.

ERIC CLAPTON CROSSROADS STRATOCASTER & '57 TWIN AMP

- a Stratocaster and '57 Twin amp set designed in collaboration with Eric Clapton and his Crossroads Center in Antigua, guitar features include a traditional Stratocaster-style body with a Sun Crossroads Antigua graphic personally drawn by Clapton on the lower bass bout and a hardshell case with the same Sun graphic, the amp is a '57 Twin Amp that has the same Sun graphic across the front grille, mfg. summer 2007.
The Eric Clapton Crossroads Stratocaster and '57 Twin Amp package was limited to 50 guitar and amp sets (Premium Platinum package, last MSR was $30,000) and an additional 50 guitars (gold package, last MSR was $20,000).
