- classic-style body, solid German spruce (early models) or Rumanian spruce (later models) top, solid Jacaranda (early models), selected solid rosewood (mid models), or solid Brazilian rosewood (later models) back and sides, round soundhole with decorative wood inlay rosette, multi-ply body binding, Honduras mahogany neck, 12/19-fret ebony fingerboard, slotted headstock with rosewood overlay, three-per-side open-style gold tuners, Jacaranda (early models) or selected rosewood (mid models), or solid Brazilian rosewood (later models) tied bridge, available in Natural finish, 25.5625 in. scale, mfg. 1986-2006.
The GC71 was developed by Yamaha to meet the high standards set by classical guitarist Andres Segovia.
