WASHBURN HAWK Description
- symmetrical double cutaway ash body, bound carved maple or rosewood top, through-body three-piece maple/rosewood neck, 22-fret bound ebony fingerboard with brass circle inlay, STB, matching peghead with screened logo, three-per-side tuners, chrome hardware, two exposed humbucker Washburn pickups, four knobs (two v, two tone), three-way switch, available in Black, Grained Brown, Ivory, Tobacco Sunburst, or Wine Red finish, mfg. 1978-1985.
From 1978-1980 Natural finish was the only Hawk available. In 1980, the "Deluxe" series was introduced (These guitars are often referred to Deluxe instruments, however there is no reference in catalogs or price lists as a Deluxe model). This new series featured three different variations (Grained Brown, Tobacco Sunburst, Wine Red) and a coil-tap switch in the knobs. By the mid 1980s, the inlays had been changed to pearl, the Natural finish look of the neck-thru body was gone and replaced by a solid finish (Black, Ivory, or Tobacco Sunburst), and a vibrato unit was an option (standard by 1984). Circa 1984, a BBR (Black/Black/Red) version was available with Black finish, Black hardware, and Red binding/inlays/accents.
