WASHBURN FALCON Description
- symmetrical double cutaway ash body, bound carved maple or rosewood top, through-body five-piece maple/rosewood neck, 22-fret bound ebony fingerboard with brass circle inlay, STB, matching peghead with screened logo, three-per-side tuners, chrome hardware, two exposed humbucker Washburn pickups, four knobs (two v, two tone), three-way switch, available in Black, Cherry Sunburst, Natural, or Sunburst finish, mfg. 1978-1985.
From 1978-1980 Natural finish was the only Falcon available. In 1980, the "Deluxe" series was introduced (These guitars are often referred to Deluxe instruments, however there is no reference in catalogs or price lists as a Deluxe model). This new series featured three different variations (Maple, Rosewood, Sunburst) and a coil-tap switch in the knobs. By the mid 1980s, the inlays had been changed to pearl, the Natural finish look of the neck-thru body was gone and replaced by a solid finish (Black or Cherry Sunburst), and a vibrato unit was an option. Circa 1984, a BBR (Black/Black/Red) version was available with Black finish, Black hardware, and Red binding/inlays/accents.
