PREMIER PREMIER 50 Description
- ~5-8W, 1-8 in. speaker, guitar combo, three or four tube chassis, top control panel, three inputs, two knobs (v, tone), various coverings and grilles, mfg. circa 1947-1965.
There are at least seven variations of the Premier 50. The first model featured all brown covering, an upside down trapezoid-shaped grille with no logo, a rear-mounted control panel and only one volume knob. In late 1940s or early 1950s, a two-tone brown cabinet with a trapezoid-shaped grille, a "Premier" logo above the grille, and two knobs (v, tone) were introduced. Another variation in the 1950s includes a square cabinet with a lighter two-tone brown covering and larger trapezoid-shaped grille with a white Premier graphic. The late 1950s dawned another version of the 50 with a tall cabinet finished in a dark/light two-tone brown with a small upside down trapezoid-shaped grille with the "Premier" logo under it. By the early 1960s, a new two-tone brown covering was introduced with a slightly larger light trapezoid-shaped grille with the "Premier" logo and two large circle graphics. The sixth variation brought the introduction of a square speaker grille and a new two-tone brown/woodgrain cabinet. The last known version was covered in a woodgrain vinyl and narrow edge front with "Premier" in the upper left corner.
