NATIONAL TRIOLIAN Description

- wooden body, 2 flat cut f-holes, 12/19-fret fingerboard, available in Light Green finish with a light overspray of several colors; neck, fingerboard, and peghead featured matching finish, decals were then placed on the body; early models feature a bouquet design, later models feature a hula girl design, mfg. 1928-1941.

Only 12 of the 1928 Tricone Triolian models exist, making this an extremely rare model. In 1929, steel body replaced wooden bodies. In 1933, rolled in f-holes replaced flat cut f-holes. In 1935, 14/20-fret fingerboard replaced 12/19-fret fingerboards. The first Triolians were an attempt to make a budget tricone. National then almost immediately switched to a single resonator cone on the wooden body; a steel body was later adopted.
