MAGNATONE MODEL 280 (CUSTOM) Description
- 50W, 2-12 in. speakers with 2-5 in. tweeters, tube chassis, preamp: 12AX7s, 6CG7s, 12HB7, power: 4 X 6973, two channels, stereo/vibrato, top black and white control panel, four inputs (two per channel), 11 knobs (Ch. 1: v, t, b, Ch. 2: v, t, b, remote, s, i, vibrato, speaker control), remote speaker jacks, bs, footswitch, brown covering, brown grille with two small "Vs" in lower right hand corner, mfg. 1957-early 1960s.
In the late 1950s, the Model 280 was replaced with the Model 280A, which introduced a mellow switch and an extra bright switch. The logo bar was also changed to be an overhang over the grille.
