- solid spruce top, mahogany back/sides/neck, rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlay, rosewood bridge with white black dot pins, pearl Chesterfield/logo peghead inlay, three-per-side gold Grover tuners, available in Black, Blonde, Natural, or Sunburst finish, mfg. 1983-1992.
In 1985, curly maple back and sides, an oval soundhole, a bound rosewood fingerboard, and a Chesterfield headstock logo were introduced. This model was renamed the GF-45CE for a brief period in 1987, and a snakehead-style headstock was introduced.
