There were two separate releases on the ES-335 Roy Orbison. The first series consisted of 70 instruments and was released to commemorate his 70th birthday. These guitars are serial numbered RO 0XX and are often referred to as "Pilot 70." The second series consisted of 200 instruments and are serial numbered ROY XXX.
