- similar to the Les Paul Special, except has a 16/22-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays and a 22.75 in. scale, available in Cherry finish, approx. 98 shipped, mfg. 1959 only.

The Les Paul Special 3/4 featured an awkward design with a neck and fingerboard that extended far into the body pushing the bridge toward the bottom of the body. The Les Paul Special 3/4 did not sell well at all, and in 1961, Gibson actually discarded several of these unsold instruments to clear room for inventory. This model was renamed the SG Special 3/4 in late 1959.
