- single cutaway non-carved Les Paul-style mahogany body, set mahogany neck, 16/22-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, black headstock overlay with gold Gibson logo and "Les Paul Junior" silkscreened in yellow, three-per-side tuners with white oval plastic buttons (tuners are mounted on a closed-back strip), combination bar bridge/tailpiece, black pickguard, single P-90 coil pickup, two knobs (v, tone), nickel hardware, available in Brown Sunburst finish, 12.75 in. body width, 17.25 in. body length, 1.75 in. body depth, 24.75 in. scale, approx. 11,300 shipped, mfg. 1954-58.

The pickup was originally mounted approximately 3/16 of an inch away from the bridge, but in 1956 this was widened to approximately 1/2 of an inch away from the bridge.
