In the early to mid-1970s, Gibson changed the name of the Hummingbird to the Hummingbird Custom; however, there was no change in the specifications. Between 1962 and 1963, some models were produced with maple back/sides. In 1966, adjustable saddle replaced original part/design. In 1970, non-adjustable saddle replaced previous part/design and chrome hardware replaced gold. In 1973, block fingerboard inlay replaced original part/design. In 1984, parallelogram fingerboard inlay replaced previous part/design. In 1996, the Early '60s Hummingbird model superseded the original Hummingbird model.
