- V-shaped mahogany body based on the 1967 Flying V, mahogany neck, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlay, arrow style peghead with white truss rod cover with Gibson logo, three-per-side tuners with pearl buttons, tune-o-matic bridge, stop tailpiece, chrome hardware, white or mirror (2002-2014) pickguard, two humbucker pickups, three knobs (two v, tone) mounted in a triangular shape, three-way switch., available in Cherry (CH), Classic White (CW), Ebony (EB), Natural (disc. 2004), Natural Burst (1999-2001), Trans. Purple (1999-2001), or Vintage Sunburst (disc.), finish, mfg. 1989-2014.
This model was originally called the Flying V Reissue in 1989. In 1990, Gibson renamed it the Flying V '67 based on the year it was reissued as. In summer 2002, they changed the name to the V Factor X, and in 2005, they dropped the X to make it the V Factor (although everybody still calls it a Flying V).
