- double rounded cutaway 335-style semi-hollow body, arched maple top, maple back and sides, two f-holes, bound body, mahogany neck, 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays, black headstock overlay with pearl crown and Gibson logo inlay, two-per-side Kluson banjo-style tuners, bar bridge, raised laminated pickguard, single covered humbucker pickup, two knobs (v, tone), nickel hardware, available in Cherry, Natural or Sunburst finish, mfg. 1958-1961.
In 1959, a baritone pushbutton control was added, and Black finish was introduced. In 1960, a string mute was added, right angle Kluson tuners were introduced, redesigned pickup replaced original pickup, and Cherry finish was introduced. Earliest models may have a single coil pickup with a brown cover.
