- offset double cutaway asymmetrical semi-hollow maple body, bound arched top, f-holes, bolt-on maple neck, 22-fret maple fingerboard with black dot inlay, six-on-one-side tuners, fixed bridge, raised black pickguard, two covered humbucker pickups, five knobs (two v, two tone, MV) three-position switch, chrome hardware, available in Black, Blonde, Natural, Tobacco Sunburst, Walnut, or White finish, mfg. 1976-1980.
The Starcaster was Fender's answer to Gibson's popular ES-335, designed by Gene Fields. Do not confuse this Starcaster with the model that is currently available at Best Buy and other stores. The new Starcaster has a Stratocaster design that retails for $240.
