- single bound laminated mahogany body, 14/20-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, single (non-adjustable) pickup with handrest, bakelite pickguard, trapeze tailpiece, individual tuners with plastic buttons, metal peghead logo plate, volume/tone controls (octagon knobs), available in Sunburst finish, 14.75 in. body width, mfg. 1939-1957.
In 1941, 15.25 in. body, the f-holes were moved even with the pickup and the hand rest was removed. In the mid-1940s, a 16.375 in. maple body, Tone Spectrum oblong pickup, square control plates, and an unbound fingerboard were introduced, and the back access plate was removed. In 1949, a large rectangular pickup with unadjustable poles, knobs with lines, and a Stylized E on the pickguard were introduced. In 1950, a New York pickup with no poles was introduced. In 1953, DeArmond pickup, clear barrel knobs, and Blonde finish was optional.
