AMPEG/DAN ARMSTRONG AMPEG AEB-1 Description
- single smooth cutaway, two f-holes that go through the entire body, black pickguard covering most of the body with Ampeg on bass side, 20-fret rosewood or blonde fingerboard with dot inlay, open scroll-style headstock with two-per-side tuners, bridge extending past body, "mysterious" hidden pickup under bridge, two knobs, available in White, Sunburst, or Red finish, mfg. 1966-68.
The "mysterious" pickup was a variation of the pickup used on the Baby Bass. This is a different type of arrangement in the pickup that allows for non-magnetic strings to be used. There were approx. 1,150 AEB-1 and AUB-1 basses produced between 1966 and 1968.
